Running Geneious in 64 bit on Mac OS
- Make sure you have the latest version of Java by opening "Software Update" in the Apple menu.
- In your Applications folder go in to Utilities/Java and open "Java Preferences"
- In the Java Preferences drag the Java application version around so that a 64-bit version is at the top (see screenshot)
- Close the Java Preferences then go to your Geneious app.
- Control-Click on Geneious and choose "Show Package Contents"
- In the folder that is opened go in to the "Contents" folder and double click on "Info.plist"
- In the Plist Editor click the arrow next to "Root" to open it then open "Java" in the same way
- Double click on the value next to "VMOptions" to edit it and add " -d64" on the end (see screenshot)
- Save and close the Info.plist then run Geneious.
You should now be able to allocate larger amounts of memory to Geneious on the General tab in Tools -> Preferences.
