The products we create are Geneious Prime and Geneious Biologics, but our company is Biomatters. Biomatters began in New Zealand in 2003 with the aim of creating a world leading bioinformatics software platform. Today we have users across the globe – in universities, research institutes and companies.
Geneious Biologics is a cloud-based, scalable software platform that supports mission-critical, therapeutic antibody screening and analysis. It elevates your ability to innovate with easy-to-use tools that streamline workflow and improve accuracy.
As the world’s most recognized and comprehensive desktop suite of molecular biology and NGS analysis tools, Geneious Prime increases process efficiency and enables you to be a better scientist.
People are what makes us successful.
We are a global team and our culture is important to us. We are approachable, curious, and intelligent. We get things done, embrace the challenge and have fun.
We have a high-trust, low hierarchy approach to work. We are a place where anyone can talk to anyone and we like it this way.
The ‘in it together approach’ is part of who we are.
How do we show this?
- We offer share options to all our employees so you can contribute to, and gain from our success.
- Feedback and different perspectives are important here. We collaborate, decide and go.
- We have monthly meetings where we go through our financials. We do this to be transparent, to keep our internal shareholders informed and celebrate our successes as a team.
- We have an open plan office and an open approach. Questions are always encouraged here.
All new employees are offered share options when they start at Biomatters. When you do well Biomatters does well and when Biomatters does well you get to share our success.
All Biomatters employees receive Health Insurance. We provide income protection (in the US this is called workers compensation), trauma and life insurance. We also contribute to pension schemes.
Flexible work is important to us. Most of the team sets their own hours and works from home 1 or 2 days a week. Others, like the US, work remotely and come together for important events like our annual sales conference in New Zealand.
Every 3 months for 24 hours we have EvoLab. The goal of EvoLab is to make Biomatters better. It is a chance for you (in teams or individually) to experiment, create, enhance, learn, share, request or collaborate on projects that excite you and align with the Biomatters vision, mission and values or our strategic objectives.
We have an overall culture of curiosity, enthusiasm and collaboration and all of us are are driven by our passion to help researchers do their work more effectively. Here is a little bit about our different teams.
Our biggest team resides in Auckland. They are a great mix of people across finance, application science, software development, sales, and marketing who enjoy their commercial coffee machine, daily hacky sack, deck filled with plants and herbs, and collaborating and getting involved.
Our Danish team are based in Aarhus. They are a curious and practical bunch who are driven by their passion to help Pharmaceutical companies make better drugs quicker. Small and close knit, they eat lunch together most days and work flexibly. In their spare time they take part in a range of hobbies and interests including drinking and brewing beer, coffee and various sporting activities such as running, mountaineering and skiing.
Our US team is a bunch of amazing sales and science experts who work remotely to build our customer base and provide technical support. They work very flexibly out of their home offices and connect during weekly meetings. They also meet up often at conferences, during training and at other events.
